Macho Man Passes Away

Extremely sad to report today that Randy “Macho Man” Savage has passed away.  This was initially reported by TMZ.  It is being reported that Randy had a heart attack while driving, lost control of his vehicle and collided with a tree.  Randy was 58 years old and my thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family.

Macho was truly one of the legends of wrestling.  This was a man who has been in some of the best matches in history, whose face and voice are synonymous with wrestling.  When you ask for famous wrestlers, names like Hulk Hogan and Steve Austin always pop up in peoples minds.  However if you show them a picture of Macho they all know who he is.  He touched many lives throughout his career and it is arguable to say that his match with Ricky Steamboat was the inspiration for some of the greatest performers we have today.  That match has always been looked back upon as a benchmark moment for the WWE, for a time when they were to show not only was WWE and Wrestlemania about the event, but the wrestling meant something too.  Macho was a truly amazing performer who could turn it on, rev up his engine and captivate you.  He would become one of the greatest WWE Champions of all time, and who could ever forget the Mega Powers Explode?  So much talent.

Growing up I was a big fan of the Macho Man and it has been a dream of mine for such a long time now that we’d finally get to see him inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.  I had hoped for so long to see him giving his acceptance speech, or even to see him walk out onto Monday Night Raw as a guest host.  Despite rumors and speculation no one will ever know the true story as to why Macho and WWE had their falling out but due to today’s tragic incident we will never get the chance to see him welcomed back into the fold.  This is truly a sad note on a very tragic story.

Rest in Peace Macho Man.  You will truly be missed.
